We show you the best corners around the accommodation, with a view of Lusen peak. Whether you hike through the low mountain range, cycle, or simply take a relaxing stroll through the forest, we are looking forward to welcoming you.

The Bavarian Forest, or Bayerischer Wald, extends along the border between Bavaria and the Czech Republic for 100 kilometres (62 miles) long. The low mountain range reaches 1,456 metres (4,776 feet) at its highest point. With several information centres and a well-developed network of hiking trails, the area is perfect for both young and old adventurers. You can learn a lot about the local flora and fauna too.

As one of the last primeval forests, the Bavarian Forest has a very special status in Germany. The dense vegetation is returning to its original state and is even home to wolves, lynxes, beavers, otters, kingfishers, and owls. You don’t have to spend days in the forest to catch a glimpse of them either, you can visit the open-air animal enclosure at the Lusen National Park Centre to meet them.

You can, of course, also discover the local mountains with us. We offer a Tour to the fifth highest mountain in the Bavarian Forest – the Lusen. You can see it from the apartment so hiking to the top is pretty much a must! You hike to the summit on the spectacular Himmelsleiter (Jacob’s Ladder), a narrow, dead-straight path. On another Tour, you climb the Siebenkopf mountain and explore Moldauquelle spring. You can learn about the Trift (cattle track) which would once have been used to transport valuable wood from the forest on the local waterways.

From Munich, you can easily drive to Mauth on the A 92 motorway via Landshut and Landau. Once you arrive, you can leave your car parked as all the Tours can be reached by bus.
