Traffic-free bike paths are an important way to make cycling in the city fun and safe for riders both young and old. In Aachen, a vibrant student city in northern Germany, a network of bike routes is opening that will connect the city’s districts to the centre. The routes will be as car-free as possible, occasionally using side streets with minimal traffic. Whether you want to ride to work, university or school or just want to go shopping, you may prefer to reach for your bike rather than your car thanks to the new priority cycle routes. The cycle lanes adhere to the city’s high standards under the campaign ‘Made in Aachen’.

The routes carve through urban areas of the city as well as green stretches such as beautiful parks, lush meadows, and along the picturesque Wurm River. From your saddle, you can enjoy the pretty landscapes, admire the city’s impressive architecture, and stop spontaneously at a cafe or in green nature. You can make your way to your destination completely relaxed and happy.

Intensive planning and construction are already underway on the first four routes, which will be completed one section at a time. We’ll present the routes here in this Collection.
