Snow-capped mountaintops, no matter which way you look. Splashing brooks, rushing waterfalls and lush Alpine meadows. Sound good to you? Well, running through this paradise you'll find your dream trail: a route that will bring you into some of the most beautiful landscapes you've ever seen and drop you out at cozy mountain huts — ready for the best food you've ever eaten. And the best part? It won't take forever or cost the world.
In this Collection, we have devised a mini-Alpine adventure over three days, something you can quite easily enjoy during a long weekend. To start, you'll begin your trip in Garmisch on Friday evening, followed by two full days of epic mountain bike action, beautiful views and romantic overnight stays in cozy mountain huts. Then, on Sunday, you'll land back out in Oberaudorf — and back into civilization — tired, but one with a huge grin on your face.
The Rides
Two of the three rides are fairly long and will see you conquer quite a lot of elevation. Seeing as you'll have full days to finish them, though, you can take your time and enjoy breaks when you fancy them. This means that even mountain bikers that are not particularly well-trained shouldn't have any major difficulties completing each ride. As you go, you'll also pass numerous accommodation options in the form of mountain huts and Alpine chalets. Therefore, if the route truly proves too tough, just call it a day for now, get a good night's sleep, and continue the rest of the ride the following day.
Your Bike
As the rides are going to be predominantly over gravel roads of singletrack, your definitely want to bring a mountain bike. A good enduro or all-mountain will do the trick. Just remember: You're going to be in the mountains and likely on your own for a while. Therefore, bring plenty of water, some snacks, a first aid kit, a power bank for your phone, your wallet and a change of clothes for the evening.
Getting There
Getting to Garmisch is also surprisingly easy. Almost every international carrier offers flights to Munich — wherever in the world you are — from where you can either rent a car or take the bus or train to Garmisch Partenkirchen. From this beautiful town, you can start your ride the moment you arrive. Once you get to Oberaudorf at the end of your ride, you'll be able to take the train back to Garmisch or straight to Munich, depending on whether you left anything at your starting point.
