The Eder cycle path meanders through a picturesque low mountain range landscape together with the river of the same name. Forested mountain ranges line the winding valley through which the Eder flows. Romantic alluvial forests and lush meadows line its shores all the way to the impressive Edersee lake. On the cycle path along the shore you can experience the reservoir and the untouched nature of the Kellerwald-Edersee National Park up close. Wide fields accompany the Eder to its mouth in the Fulda.
The ADFC's four-star Eder cycle path leads 171 kilometres through North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse. The cycle path begins in Erndtebrück at the edge of the Rothaar Mountains, a few kilometres from the Eder spring. It accompanies the Eder on its journey through a picturesque and above all varied landscape until it flows into the Fulda, which you can experience in all its diversity in three stages.
The starting point of the Eder cycle path in Erndtebrück is easily reached by train. There is also a train station in Baunatal-Guntershausen, the destination of the three-day bike tour, from where you can comfortably return home. Along the cycle path, which runs along both asphalted and easily accessible gravel paths, you will find a good infrastructure for food and accommodation. In the middle of nature, rest areas invite you to take a break. You will also find places to stop for refreshments in the places you pass. You can spend the night in the stage destinations or along the route in bicycle-friendly bed & bike establishments, hotels or camping sites. Along the Eder cycle path there is something for everyone's taste, so that you will definitely experience an unforgettable cycle tour from the Rothaar mountains to the Fulda.
