Three enjoyable stages will take you along the 'Kraut und Rüben' (cabbage and turnips) cycleway through the Sunny Palatinate. Along the way, you will pass colorful fields, wide meadows and picturesque vineyards which stretch in long rows along the cycle path. You will also find many wine taverns and farm cafes en route that invite you to taste regional specialities.

The 'Kraut und Rüben' cycleway connects the House of the German Wine Route in Bockenheim with the German Wine Gate in Schweigen-Rechtenbach on the French border. This Collection will guide you 86 miles (139 km) through the wine-growing area of Palatinate and the Rhine plain. You will pass picturesque vineyards and the region's wonderful expanse of crop, tobacco, cabbage and beet fields. Here, you will experience pure country idyll and get an insight into agriculture as you cycle past many farms. You can also take a break and taste regional Palatinate delicacies in rustic farm shops and cozy cafes. Some of the farms are listed as cycle stations on the 'Kraut und Rüben' cycleway and are therefore especially well-suited to cyclists, you can recognize them by the farm sign with the beet.

You can easily reach the starting point in Bockenheim by regional train from Monsheim or Grünstadt. Along your adventure, you will find overnight accommodation and eating options at the end destination of each stage as well as railway stations nearby. You can also shorten the route if the weather plays up. In Schweigen-Rechtenbach, the final destination, you can join the Deutsche Weinstraße cycle path which you back to the starting point in Bockenheim. If you want to travel home by train, you will find the nearest railway station in the neighboring town of Wissembourg in France.
