A bit of Teutoburg Forest, a piece of Eggemountains, the beautiful Senne and the high foothills of the Sauerland — in the Paderborn Land you can "sniff" so many different regions that the journey along the Paderborn Land Route becomes a real voyage of discovery. You cycle through idyllic cultural and natural landscapes, experience the rural way of life in the small villages along the way and learn all about the industrial past of the exciting cities on the route. Wonderful forests, fresh springs and picturesque heath landscapes alternate with impressive buildings such as the railway viaduct near Altenbeken, the majestic Wewelsburg or the venerable Augustinian monastery of Dalheim. The ADFC has put it in a nutshell and declared the Paderborn Land Route a quality cycle route with three stars.

In this collection we present you the approximately 250 kilometre Paderborn Land Route on six stages. We start in Hövelhof, a small village just outside Paderborn, which is also easily accessible by train and is therefore a perfect starting point for the bike tour. Since the Paderborn Land Route is a circuit, you can of course decide where you want to start. The route itself is very varied, and not only with regard to the highlights along the tour: while some stages have a relaxed, flat course, the middle stages through the Eggegebirge and on the edge of the Sauerland are quite hilly. But the ascents are all moderate and also no problem for occasional cyclists — if you get too sweaty, take a break and enjoy the beautiful view. On the way you can enjoy the beautiful route, which mostly runs along asphalted cycle paths and near-natural sections and is mostly car-free.

In the stage towns you will find all sorts of possibilities to stop for a bite to eat and to spend the night. In some places even bed + bike accommodations provide for special well-being, since one adjusted here to the needs of cyclists. In the tours we have noted if Bett+Bike accommodations are available. In the restaurants along the route you will often be spoiled with regional delicacies — the region is known for good bread and tasty asparagus and game dishes. Not all stage locations are connected to the railway network. However, you can often use the special bicycle buses that run during the summer especially for cyclists. The Paderborn countryside is a really good place to cycle!
