I thought that finding the time to get outdoors and exploring was challenging enough and then... a baby arrived. Holy shamoly! Between naps, feeds and juggling life in general - trying to find a) the time and b) places to escape to for a mini adventure as a family has proved a new challenge this year.

So, this winter, I aimed HIGH. Well, as high as I could get in our home county of Gloucestershire. Me, the hubby and our little baby Storm set off on a mission to add to our collection of little peaks around the county, on the hunt for ones which gave the most bang for our hiking-buck and delivered on the views.

From the historic May Hill with its eerie circle of 99 trees at the top to Robinswood Hill, the highest point in the City of Gloucester with a bangin' view of the Cathedral, there's something for everyone in this Collection. And all of them are doable with a little one in tow, even in winter!

Each walk is between 30 and 90 minutes long, there's always a parking option nearby and the trails to the top are well marked, as well as being well worth it for the views once you get there.

Adventures don't have to be big, after all. Sometimes the best escapes are the little journeys enjoyed together.

J'adore cette petite randonnée car ce n'est pas une colline que vous sauriez monter à moins d'être du coin. Mais il y a une boucle facile sur deux chemins différents et c'est un mélange soigné de champs et de bois. On a l'impression d'être en Nouvelle-Zélande au sommet - avec toutes les longues herbes…

Il s'agit d'une petite tranche brillante de la Cotswold Way, avec des vues époustouflantes et un topographe élégant en fonte de cuivre pour faire bonne mesure. Nous nous sommes garés au parking Shortwood sur Beacon Lane, mais s'il y a beaucoup de monde, vous pourrez vous garer sur la voie elle-même.

Nous avons tenté notre chance et sommes montés sur notre colline locale avec une prévision de pluie boy-o-boy, cela en valait la peine! La vue depuis le sommet de Robinswood Hill est géniale n'importe quel jour, mais nous avons eu un vrai régal au sommet!
