🇦🇹 🇮🇹 Alpenüberquerung Garmisch - Sterzing

Since a very motivating TV report about crossing the Alps, this has been on our holiday wish list. In order to get a good physical and technical feel, we decided on this organized but individual trip with luggage transport, where there were also passages with public transport and a few ascents by gondola… voir plus

At this stage, only a half-day tour was on the program. From Leutasch (Weidach) we are 300 meters up to the Katzenkopf. From here there was a beautiful panorama of the Leutasch Valley with the Wetterstein Mountains with Wetterstein and Gehrenspitze.

On the same days and on the same route as we were two other couples and a group with a guide. As a result, you regularly - but not too often - met other people on the stages without having to undergo too much a different rhythm. For us "Alpine beginners" in particular, it was a nice feeling that there… voir plus

Today we use the Serlesbahnen to get to the starting point of this stage and from there via an easy path to the Maria Waldrast monastery.



Despite the support from the railway, another 800 meters await us on the ascent. We also pass the technically most demanding section of the entire tour just before… voir plus

For us, this was the most beautiful stage of an overall very enjoyable trip.



At first we spared a little bit of energy and went from Steinach am Brenner with the Berneralmbahn and the train to the Hohe Turm just below the summit of the Nößlachjoch.

With this stage we now also crossed the border from Austria to Italy.



From the hotel in Obernberg we first walked along the picturesque Obernberger Bach and then up to the Obernberger See with the picturesque chapel.



From there there was an easy but not easy path up to the pass between Grubenkopf and Hohem… voir plus

The last stage offered another (by our standards) quite crisp ascent, but a relaxed end with the cable car down to Sterzing.



Before that, there was a wonderful path through the forest to the Vallming Alm and then on to the Alm at Rosskopf.
