A cycling route the length of Ireland including a diverse range of road surfaces inlcuding quiet country roads, tracks and trails and some bits of single track mostly away from busy roads and traffic. The route is achievable using a gravel bike with at least recommended 40c tires. The route travels through Dublin the capital and on to Northern Ireland to finish in Derry. It also passes through lots of small towns for resupply, and possible places to stay. Camping is also optionable along sections of the route in various locations. In some areas it will be required to push the bike and there are a few spots where the bike will have to be lifted over a fence or two or three. The route starts from the beautiful town of Kenmare in County Kerry and crosses the county bounds close to Ballyvourney overlooking the mast on Mullaganish and then handrails Shrone lake and the Paps before entering the town of Millstreet. The route takes in the Suir Blueway between Clonmel and Carrik on Suir. River barges, quiet towns and little pubs, the route moves along the amazing Grand Canal and the many little towns through Athy, Co. Kildare and into the capital city of Dublin. From Dublin the route is then directed north east towards Newry and continues along the Portadown Cycle Path of 18 miles. The remainder of the route is more or less northward along quite country roads through the Sperrin mountains and some nice trails before finishing in Derry.
