Between mountains and a gorge – cycle through Austria’s Leutasch Valley
Between mountains and a gorge – cycle through Austria’s Leutasch Valley
Sortie à vélo - Collection par Carola L.
The Leutasch Valley stretches between the Wetterstein mountains, the Ahrnspitz massif and the Mieminger chain, with the Hohe Munde as the highest mountain in the region at 2,662 metres (8,733 ft). Many people know it as the Seefeld Olympic region for its cross-country skiing.
However, this beautiful mountain valley and its bike-friendly topography are also wonderful in the summer. Easy climbs, cycle paths and quiet country roads lead through spectacular landscapes. And you can cool off in the crystal-clear Leutascher Ache River during your rides.
In the villages, you can marvel at the rural architecture and the so-called Lüftlmalerei paintings on the walls of many listed houses. And if you get hungry, the inns serve delicious regional specialities.
This easy bike Tour is ideal for families with small children, seniors and also any hobby cyclist. If you have enough time, you can make a detour into the Geisterklamm on foot at the turnaround point.
The start and end point is at the Alpenbad car park in Leutasch. This is also easily accessible by public transport and you can take your bike on buses free-of-charge. Just bear in mind you can’t take your e-bike.
At the end of the day, you can relax in the Alpenbad with a sauna, massage or swim.
