The Western Isles of Scotland are a relative unknown location for Mountain Biking but they are absolutely beautiful to ride through and you can find some great singletrack if you know where to look. In this Collection I share the 4 rides from the 6th episode of Scotty's Scotland Showcase. We visited Skye, Raasay and Harris. The Trails on Skye can be hard to navigate by bike. Often overly rocky and hard to pass through. The Sligachan Path is not overly technical but offers superb views. The Old Man of Storr is slightly different, stepped riding and technical but utterly gorgeous, especially at sunrise. Raasay is perfect for a micro adventure. You can ride straight off of the boat and pedal up the tarmac ride to ascend Dùn Caan - a flat top mountain sitting at a height of 443m. The descent is brilliant and you have views back to the mainland in one direction and in the other, on to Skye's mountain range the Cuillin's.The Postmans Path is a great adventure. Ride a cliff top coastal trail that flows like a purpose built MTB trail. There are some very technical switchbacks with sheer drops down to the sea. This is an out and back route but can be made in to a loop to avoid the return hike-a-bike on the switchbacks.
