  • Here you can get many things about the Jever beerWhen Friesische Brauhaus was founded in Jever in 1848 by Diedrich König, it was just one of many breweries in the region. After his death in 1867 his son sold the brewery. The new owner Theodor Fetköter began transforming the small family business into a large brewery, advertising and making special bottles. In 1894 he was instrumental in the first water pipe for the city of Jever. The First World War was a difficult time for the brewery, as the son Theodor Fetköters, who had now taken over the management of the brewery, fell at the front. Finally, the brewery was sold again in 1922, this time to the Hamburg Bavaria St. Pauli brewery, which today belongs to the Danish Carlsberg Group. The beer from Jever was already known nationwide at this time and from 1934 it was then sold under its still valid name "Jever Pilsener". After the Second World War, the situation was initially critical again - because of lack of fuel, beer was only sold to self-collectors directly at the brewery and you had to leave the farms in the area to get barley.
After the immediate postwar period was over, the situation improved in Jever again. The best-selling beer was an export beer of the brand "Jever Export", which was brewed until 1990. During the 1960s, the Pils became more popular and the sales of "Jever Pilsener" increased. During this time, the brewery was significantly expanded and expanded.
Since 1994, the brewery has been part of the Dortmunder Brau und Brunnen Group, which since 2004 has been part of the Radeberger Group within the Oetker Group.
Today, the brewery has about 270 employees and about 60,000 bottles are filled per hour. In the mirrored towers, which have been shaping the cityscape since the early 1980s, there are now three times five storage tanks of 240,000 liters each, in which the green beer matures after fermentation in the fermentation tanks to perfection.
