The 4711 perfume manufacturer Ferdinand Mülhens built this magnificent building at the end of the 19th century with a breathtaking view over the Siebengebirge and the Rhine Valley. After the visit of Leonid Brezhnev, the hotel closed in 1973 for a long time. Five years later, the federal government acquired the five-star domicile, from 1985 it was extensively modernized for around 70 million euros and reopened in 1990 by the hotel chain Steigenberger. Since then, US President Bill Clinton was a guest, Michael Schumacher married his Corinna there and also at the Afghanistan conferences in 2001, 2002 and 2011 was the Petersberg in the center of world interest.
