The monastery was built on the basis of a foundation made in 1323/24 by Henry II of Mecklenburg. The construction of the monastery began in 1325, and already in 1329 the first nuns moved in. Seule l'église de la fin du XIVe siècle a été conservée du complexe monastique d'origine. Il s'agit d'un simple bâtiment en briques à une nef avec six travées voûtées à croisée d'ogives. Les pignons est et ouest sont ornés d'arcs aveugles, et une petite tour a été ajoutée devant eux.
