The excursion to the Glaciar Perito Moreno is not a real hike, but I would like to introduce you to this fascinating place. If you want to learn more about morphology, you can find out more about it on the internet.
At the starting point there is a parking lot and an information center (including toilets and cafe). The entire area in front of the glacier front is equipped with catwalks, viewing balconies and numerous information boards and you can choose between the different color-coded routes or combine them to your own taste. Unfortunately we could not find the possibility for further hikes. You do not need any sophisticated equipment for this "walk", but in sunshine the sunglasses and the sunscreen should not be missing. We were recommended to visit in the afternoon, because after a sunny day the glacier should calve particularly strong. We followed this advice and arrived at around 4:00 pm - and in fact the ice broke down by the minute and the sound (like a strong thunderstorm) is really impressive. After we were told that for the visit 3-4 hours completely sufficient, we have booked in the bus terminal in El Calafate a corresponding bus ride (Hin 14:30 clock, back 19:30 clock) for 600 pesos / person. The ride takes about 1.5 hours and you can enjoy the view on the ride very well. The park opens at 8:00 and closes between 16: 00-21: 00, depending on the season.
Negative: Shortly before arriving at the glacier, an access gate to the Los Glaciares National Park suddenly appears. It is nicely pointed out that 500 pesos / person in cash and payable only in pesos. If you do not have them, you can decide - either get off and wait for the bus back at the entrance or change your US $ / Euro cash reserves to a very miserable rate. In our eyes, the rip-off, especially since we were not told by the ticket vendor or the bus driver.
Nevertheless, have fun, if necessary, you can use the entrance fee more effectively.

La particularité : le glacier Perito Moreno est le seul glacier au monde qui continue de croître - même tous les jours ! Autre particularité : le phénomène de rupture des bords des glaciers s'observe même ici confortablement depuis une passerelle en bois de la presqu'île de Magellan. La plupart des bords des autres glaciers ne peuvent être admirés que de près en bateau - mais une excursion en bateau jusqu'à Perito-Moreno est aussi une aventure.
