  • Plant diversity from all over the worldOn the edge of the Schönwasserpark is the Botanical Garden, which has developed from a small school garden to a diverse, attractively designed complex. Today, around 5,000 plant species from all over the world grow in the botanical garden - in scientific departments and themed gardens. European, American and Asian deciduous trees and coniferous trees form the outer framework of the 3.6 hectares of gardens. In addition to the rose garden with around 150 varieties of roses, depending on the season, rhododendrons, alpinum and the pharmacy garden with medicinal and poisonous plants are the main attractions in the field.
Numerous magnificent perennials unfold their blossoms from early spring to late autumn and diverse changing plants with spring flowers and summer flowers give suggestions for the local garden. Strictly arranged according to plant families are native and non-native wild plants in well-arranged beds in the systematic department and the biological department shows examples of adaptations of plants to their environment.
Particularly worth seeing is the Niederrheinische farmers garden, in which the beds are traditionally arranged geometrically and lined by small box hedges. Boxwood, fruits, vegetables, herbs and flowers cut into figures form a harmonious overall picture. From the cottage garden you already have a good view of the 1997 greenhouse greenhouse. Here, a selection of the family of cacti native to North America grows together with water-storing plants from the arid areas of South America and Africa. In addition, a section of the flora of the Canary Islands and the Mediterranean is shown.Opening hours outdoor:
