NSG "Oberer Herrenteich"

Bel étang avec beaucoup de nénuphars.

Le Herrenteich à Reinfeld doit son existence aux moines cisterciens qui ont fondé le monastère "Reynevelde" au XIIe siècle dans la région des basses terres marécageuses du Heilsau. Le Heilsau prend sa source près de l'actuel Stockelsdorf (district d'Ostholstein) et se jette dans la Trave en dessous de Reinfeld. Les moines ont défriché la forêt, créé de plus petits étangs à poissons et ont profité de l'excavation pour utiliser le barrage pour barrer le Heilsau au Herrenteich, afin qu'ils puissent y élever des carpes. Aujourd'hui encore, le Herrenteich est utilisé pour l'élevage de la carpe et est donc drainé pendant 3 à 4 semaines en octobre de chaque année dans le cadre du festival de la carpe de la ville de Reinfeld. Seul le Heilsau serpente à travers la surface du fond de l'étang comme un mince ruban.

The NSG "Oberer Herrenteich" includes the large area of water, the adjoining reed beds as well as willow swamps, alder forests, wet meadows and dry hills.The Herrenteich in Reinfeld, Stormarn district, owes its origin to the Cistercian monks, who founded the “Reynevelde” monastery in the swampy lowlands of the Heilsau in the 12th century. The Heilsau rises near today's Stockelsdorf (Ostholstein district) and flows into the Trave below Reinfeld.
Count Adolf had commissioned this Cistercian order in 1186 to make this “place of loneliness and horror”, according to the contemporary witness Probst Sido from Neumünster, arable. They cleared the forest, created smaller fish ponds and used the excavation to use the dam to build up the healing sau to the men's pond.Until the 16th century, the monks lived in Reynevelde Monastery, which had become rich and powerful due to its agriculture, forestry and above all pond management. The Reformation ended the work of the Order, which has greatly changed and shaped the landscape through the creation of over 60 ponds. The men's pond is still used for carp breeding and is therefore drained for 3-4 weeks in October every year in connection with the carp festival of the city of Reinfeld.
