The remains of the Waldsteinburg can be found on the rock wall opposite the Waldsteinhaus. The Waldsteinburg, also called the Red Castle, is the ruin of a summit castle at 877 m above sea level. NHN on the Großer Waldstein. The Waldsteinburg was built by the knights of Sparneck in the 14th century. In 1523 the troops of the Swabian Confederation burned the castle to the ground. After that, the complex was forgotten until it was used again as a camp in the War of the Spanish Succession (1701-1714). Red bricks were used to expand the camp, from which the name "Red Castle" can be traced. Today only the foundation walls of the fortress are preserved. frankentourismus.de/poi/burgruine_waldstein-17862

Beautiful hiking trails around the Waldstein are waiting to be hiked here.
In addition to the red castle, bowl and bear trap, there are also historical highlights to marvel at the Waldstein whale and the Napoleon hat.
With strollers z. E.g. the bowl can hardly be reached.
