In the middle of the Vijlenerwald, somewhere on a gravel road between the mountain village of Vijlen, Epen and Vaals, is the Boscafé 't Hijgend Hert, the only true mountain hut in the Netherlands, at an altitude of 260 meters.
You have a wonderful view from the sunny terraces of this unique place. You can enjoy the peace and quiet and listen to the sounds of the forest. Buzzards circle the air regularly, and at dusk you can sometimes see a hawk.

The atmosphere in the restaurant is cozy and the fireplace is on in cold and wet weather. Enjoy a cup of coffee with a piece of cake, one of our almost 60 strong beers or a wonderful meal in this special ambience.
Prepared the traditional way
Various soups, stews, local dishes and other delicious dishes are prepared in the traditional way. During the game season we also serve game dishes.
A small zoo belongs to the cafe.
