Owner of the castle was since 1814 the family of Kaehne, especially known by Friedrich August Kaehne. In 1825, the wealthiest man in the town, landowner and magistrate was commissioned by Karl Friedrich Schinkel to build a representative mansion, a picturesque building in a colorful mix of Moorish fort and English Tudor style, which is still visible from afar. C. F. Kaehne was raised in 1840 to the peerage.Source:
