Randonnée - Incontournable
Not far from the train station, a venerable gentleman looks out from a two-meter-high granite pedestal to the hustle and bustle around him. We stand in front of the Fritz Reuter monument, which was built here in honor of the great Low German poet, who lived from 1856 to 1863 in Neubrandenburg.Born in Stavenhagen, the poet felt like he was connected to his Neubrandenburg like no other city, and his Neubrandenburg brothers thanked him by raising 32,000 marks in a fundraising campaign and having this monument built in 1893.Fritz Reuter worked as a teacher and had his literary creative years here in Neubrandenburg. He wrote u. a. "No Hüsung", his most social-critical work.
