Aussichtsturm Emscherkunst

Dans le cadre de l'« Emscherkunst », Tadashi Kawamata a conçu en 2010 une tour de guet à laquelle mène une sorte de passerelle. Proche de la croix d'eau de l'Emscher et du canal Rhin-Herne près de Castrop-Rauxel, cette « sculpture » permet une belle vue sur le paysage. Avec le thème du « devenir et passer », l'artiste traite du changement et de la transformation constants de la région et de l'Emscher lui-même. Avec la clairvoyance appropriée, la vue depuis la tour est intéressante et belle à regarder. Bel endroit pour se reposer.

Les différents objets d'art sont un changement sur la piste cyclable d'Emscher. Ici la tour d'observation de plain-pied de l'artiste japonais Tadashi Kawamata. For Emscherkunst, Tadashi Kawamata chose a location near the water cross of Emscher and Rhein-Herne-Kanal, the so-called Dükers in Castrop Rauxel. Although the round tower itself fulfills all the requirements of a functional architecture, Tadashi Kawamata understands it conceptually as a sculpture, as an aesthetic form. Together with his assistants, Tadashi Kawamata built the tower in 2010 as part of the first issue of Emscherkunst. He consciously carries the character of the provisional, the unfinished and the ephemeral.The basic artistic principle of Kawamata, the "becoming and passing away", combines at this point with the change of the landscape itself: Once a natural, meandering river, the Emscher was straightened and degraded to the sewer. With the renewed conversion project, the once "passing away" of the river until its completion in 2020 will once again be a forward-looking "becoming", because the stinking canal is being transformed back into a natural river with living meadows. This transformation, which is also an example of the fundamental structural change in the Ruhr area, can be observed and followed in the next few years by visitors, cyclists and walkers from Kawamata's lookout tower.
