The Upper Danube Nature Park is located in the south of Baden-Württemberg and comprises large parts of the counties of Tuttlingen, Sigmaringen, Zollernalb and Biberach. It was founded on December 5, 1980 and is one of a total of seven nature parks in Baden-Württemberg.The protected area covers 1496 square kilometers along the Danube and its tributaries Bära and Lauchert between Tuttlingen and Herbertingen. It is managed by the registered association of the same name, based in Beuron, where the most impressive part of the Danube breakthrough can be hiked through the Swabian Jura.
