Small crevasse rescue exercise that we learned yesterday "in the dry" ☺️ the glacier is really quite impressive!



I am quite surprised and impressed what you can do with a rope, a few carabiners, ribbon slings and vine cords! Secure, abseil, pull up!

During my crevasse rescue course from the Alpine Club, I realized that you actually have no chance if the person "hanging down" cannot actively participate in his rescue and the "rescuers" are not professionals. (But that was over 20 years ago)

Yes, pulling someone over the edge who cannot help themselves is practically impossible on their own. But you can do it with two or three people. So better not to fall in at all 😉



Exactly, I booked a course through the DAV Summit Club and for a week we learned the basics of glacier tours and emergency rescue from crevasses.

In Saas Fee, an "A column" has been drilled for inspection. A doll was stuck in the bottom. Whoever falls in there is already dead 3 times before he gets downstairs.
