Today I went for a walk to the Helfensteins with my wife and her friend. We drove from our hotel "Luisenmühle" in Mengeringhausen to a parking lot for hikers, from which we went directly to the alpine path in the area of Dörnberg and Helfensteine.

Hiking is the Lutz's delight ... but apart from the beautiful moss-covered trees (# 8) and the parallel butterflies (# 13; such a snapshot is not easy to get), this time I have a very personal favorite: the Hanomag (# 6 ). Tip from an insider (I live in the area) park at the Friedrichstein hikers' car park and then climb the Dörnberg via the "Gnomen Weg". To do this, go up the mountain behind the parking lot and then follow the Grimmsteig slightly to the right into the forest. The gnomes are carved into the trees. 😉

That's right, Burkhard, the Helfensteine and the surrounding area are actually heavily frequented. If you want to have some peace there, you should switch to the week and avoid the weekend.

But otherwise North Hesse is a very tranquil hiking pavement, where you never actually run into a pile 😊.
