Today I was allowed to go bird watching and counting with an ornithologist from the ornithological station in Sempach.
We were on the road for 4.30 hours, but only 1 hour was recorded, so listening and watching was the order of the day.
On the tour I was fascinated by the multitude of bird calls and now also knowing which bird is behind it.
Only a few that we heard and sometimes saw, the oriole, wood warbler, song thrush, wren, blackcap, swift, central and black woodpecker, goosander, etc.
At the moment everything is in bloom and anyone who has not yet harvested nettles or wild garlic should go now.
The wild garlic blossoms are easy to freeze or dry, so they can be used all year round.
The Japanese knotweed has spread very widely here on the island, unfortunately it is still sold in some shops. Here are a few bird calls:

In wonderful weather we made the tour from Andelfingen to the Rhine Falls today, about every 20 minutes a train leaves the castle.
From Andelfingen train station (regardless of whether you come by train or car), you go through the beautiful little village center, past the church with the neo-Gothic tower down to the old Thur bridge.
After a few meters the path goes along the Thur where you can see the first signs of the beavers (who live here).
Here you have the option to go on the wide hiking path or the narrow river path to the barbecue area.
At the barbecue area, the path goes up the slope, here a beautiful forest path goes along the edge, which branches off to the right after a short time towards Marthalen.
Marthalen has a beautiful old village center with many half-timbered houses, it is worthwhile to choose the hiking route through the city.
After about 30 minutes you come to the Rheinweg, which leads to the waterfall.

There are three large parking spaces for hikers at the bridge at Rottenschwil Hecht, and the 245 bus to Muri also stops here.
The direct route to Muri takes 2 hours, we first made a visit to the Rottenschwiler Moos and the Silent Reuss.
In Gizlen we came back on the Freiämtlerweg which we followed to Muri.

I enjoy hiking through our beautiful forests, but if something like that happens you should inform yourself and look for the right thing. I have been very interested in this topic over the past few weeks.
The BUND (Association for the Environment and Nature Conservation Germany) and SWR television also became aware of this case. Today I had the opportunity to be there directly on site and form my own judgment.
We were at 5 locations, and 6 hours of on-site visits and conversations resulted in 2.30 minutes of film.
The date for the broadcast has not yet been set.

Today there was a hike in the beautiful Glarnerland, first we visited a few historical points in Näfels and then we continued on the old Roman path.
The paths are well signposted and are in very good condition. The vertical meters are
with 600m up and down specified with Komoot we only come to 390 m, the 600 m are more correct.
About 60% of the way is a panoramic hike and on the way you go along a piece of the Denk loop.
Start: Näfels station, the end point Mühlehorn station, I would definitely plan it in this direction, so you have the nicer panoramic view, almost the entire way.
The way is as
"Kerenzerberg Römerweg 820 signposted".

Today you could have thought the next lockdown will begin tomorrow.
Shipping has been discontinued, but the scheduled ship from Maur to Niederuster still runs as a regular connection of the ZVV.
The restaurants are all closed but all kiosks and food stands around the lake are open.

The parking lot for hikers at St. Johannes Breite was full to the other side of the street today,
OK it's Easter Sunday nice weather and cherry blossom in Eggenertal.
We walked first on the panorama path and enjoyed the view of the white valley, then we went through the white splendor of the cherry trees.
On the Hagchutz (an old settlement) there was a brilliant view over the valley to the Blauen and Bürgeln Castle.
We went back over the Freudenberg, where the upper part was planted with vines.
There are several paths here that you can walk, the Panoramaweg and Hagschutzrunde or the cherry and fruit nature trail, both of which are well signposted with information boards.
Of course, you can still plan the round with Bürgeln Castle, of course after Corona again with a visit.
Thank you again for your inspiration WanderMicha.
