When we plan a tour, we don't do it randomly or just to try to find dirt roads or to get to a specific place.
Let's plan a tour, chasing an idea: in this case it was to create a connection between what is the territory surrounding Mantua, then first going north, in the hilly part, crossing it from west to east, touching only some of the villages most beautiful in the Province (other tours can be found on our Komoot profile - or in the posts published in the Strava Club - ) and then descending southwards along the part of the Mantuan plain, creating a link between the waterways that cross it: the Chiese river, the Oglio river, the Po river and finally the Mincio river, returning to Mantua and its lakes.
And all, as always, showing the images that struck us the most ...

Pedal track, without corrections (so some steps let's say they are so to speak ... to be done "politely").
Purposefully developed path all in the province of Mantua, giving space to the northern part of the province, the hilly one.
The intention was to do "quality" kilometers with a difference in height and above all giving space as much as possible to the dirt roads.

When watching the Strade Bianche I always get impressed by the beautiful scenery, it's punchy climbs and it's impressive gravel roads. When making the plan for Strade Komoot we wanted to do a tribute to this already iconic race that is as close to the real thing as possible. So I selected the nicest of Strade Bianche like gravel roads and combined that with the punchy climbs of the Emma Pyramide, Posbank, Peeske and our version of the Piazza del Campo, the Eltenberg (it actually is a hard climb with a little square at the top). The day started out cold but as we progressed it got warmer. The route was stunning and the roads were in immaculate condition. The was plenty of #roadbikesoffroad but also some fast intermediate sections to connects those moments with the nice climbs. After 190km we tried sprinting up Eltenberg just like Mathieu did, but we must admit that we were a little tired after crunching all those km's... after that 'sprint' the only thing that rested us was to roll home with a big smile on our faces!
