Staying off pavement is a nice way to explore new trails, and they are endless: One could easily spend each day of the year in another open space preserve in the East Bay. Better not tempt my perfectionist… voir plus

I had volunteered for a medical research 1 hour test of a blood pressure phone app, which gave a convenient excuse to do a little three day bike ride to get there and back, using trails rather than pavement… voir plus

Memorial Day weekend in San Francisco very quiet as usual. Normally because everybody takes the long weekend for trips out of town, and that might be the case again… voir plus

Today, first Wednesday of the month, would have been free entry, but you can only enter the Bay Area Discovery Museum with a child: Great business opportunity for a loaner-child rental service 🤣

But at least it served as a motivation to bike across the bridge 😉

Free First Sunday at the Oakland Museum of California gave a great pretext to bike across the Bay Bridge on the new bike trail that opened a year ago (only on the eastern half span from Yerba Buena island to Oakland) with mysterious fog during the day but clear sky at night.

Just a little Bay trail ride to work up some hunger for more delicious X-Mas meals, and to visit friends and festivities in the South Bay, so different from SF.

Surpris que pour la balade essentiellement plate le long de la baie, Komoot totalise plus de 2200 pieds d'escalade, ce sont peut-être tous les petits changements d'élévation des trottoirs sur une longue distance, mais ce fut une belle journée chaude et sans vent. The North-Eastern section of the incomplete '500 mile' Bay Trail is one of the more contiguous of the many unconnected pieces around the bay. It has many side loops onto interesting marinas, parks, and museums that slow down (my ;-) exploration, albeit in a good way. The return shows that it is also… voir plus

The initial plan of a 40 mile loop was cut in half by spending hours instead of a quick 10 minutes in the fascinating SF Bay Model, a huge 1:100 working replica of the entire bay. With high/low tide cycles every 14 minutes it was used for 50 years to plan water engineering, shipping, environmental disaster… voir plus

The bike/walking trail on the new Eastern Span of the Bay Bridge was finally opened a few weeks ago, making it possible for the first time to walk to Yerba Buena and Treasure islands from Oakland. Adding a trail on the Western span from the island to San Francisco might take another 10 years ... Little… voir plus
