Especially not if you follow the seven routes in this Collection, each of which is dedicated to a particularly exciting theme. You'll cycle through the thrilling world of the moor, learn all about gas and oil production in the region, immerse yourself in the area’s turbulent history and follow in the footsteps of the giants and Dutchmen.
All this is available in Emsland with a "flat guarantee". The 2,175 mile-long (3,500-kilometer) network of cycle paths mostly leads alongside roads with little traffic or along the Hase, Ems and Dortmund-Ems Canals and is completely flat. You'll cycle through picturesque river landscapes, past countless cultural highlights and surprising features that are unique to the Emsland region. Did you know, for example, that Emsland is the largest oil-producing region in Germany, that it has the largest tree in Germany, the world's only star-shaped baroque castle and 5,000-year-old graves?
You can discover these sites and much more very comfortably on your bicycle. Cycling allows you to experience the Emsland up close: with your own leg power and your bike, you can cycle peacefully long wonderful cycle paths to all the exciting, informative and idyllic places. On the way, the brilliant amenities on offer ensure that you will have an unforgettable cycling holiday. There are many service stations en-route in case you need repairs and the “Emsland Taxi Case” can smoothly bring your luggage from hotel to hotel. Should your plans change, you can jump on the Emsland Rad-Express: seven bicycle bus lines that operate throughout the summer, with a bicycle trailer to transport your bike as well.
