Kungsleden Abisko- Hemavan

Started at noon in the sunshine in Abisko. It went through the Abisko National Park. Clouds came up during the day. Outside the national park, found a nice storage place in the sparse birch forest. Just in time after setting up the tent, the rain started.

After a rainy night the mountains were overcast, but the weather got better during the day, so that after a steep climb to the meditation place there was already a good view back into the national park.

This morning no rain, but countless small mosquitoes. I decided to practice the Tjäktja pass today, as the conditions were pretty good. Rain sets in briefly directly at the pass. It was the first time I saw reindeer. On the descent halfway up found a nice campsite and enjoyed the sunshine.

The terrain in this section was difficult, over many stones. After the morning calm, the wind picked up, drizzle set in, and from noon it stayed dry.

The day started again with drizzle. As before, it went through open valleys, but in the area of Kaitumjaurestugorna the landscape changed completely. In the evening I took the long ascent to look for a nice campsite in the open mountain landscape.

Unfortunately, the Sarek was only overcast. There follows a very steep descent through birch forest to Vakkotavare. Again and again wonderful views of the mountains of the Stora Sjöfallets National Park.

This was followed by a 30 km bus ride and the ferry crossing to Saltoluokta. The Kungsleden is interrupted in this area.

The path led through a long high valley. I lost my way and walked over an interesting moraine landscape. The boat trip on the Sitojaure went without any problems, but seems adventurous to us. An exact route must be followed through the many shoals.

On this day I took the climb to find a place to camp above the tree line. This region is not so mosquito-heavy.

Today a short tour to Aktse. Unfortunately, I had to skip the ascent to the Skierfe on the right, despite the Sunday weather.

It was raining that night. No desire to get up. But the motorboat won't wait. So packed everything up and went to the jetty. It turned out that arriving early secures good places. Only 8 passengers per crossing, so I was on the first tour.

What do we see today 20 km of forest, forest and more forest. For a change, a nice lake where I cooked food. The path along the lake was particularly difficult, as it is littered with countless boulders.

The boat trip was only 10:00, so I first visited the church in Kvikkjokk. Very nice wooden church.

Thick rain clouds moved into the Sarek, but I also got a few drops.

In the morning there is a leisurely ascent into the open mountain landscape. The cold north wind made the tour, especially at the pass, uncomfortable. During the night the rain came and there was no wind. The cleanest laundry room in the morning. Up to the Pite River, it started to rain again and again with musty ground and barely existing or rotten wooden plank paths. The weather was getting better now. The night was very cold. But Sunday weather, but with a cold north wind. The way over the block heaps in the high valley was arduous. Later there was a gentle ascent, sometimes through willow scrub and musty ground. After crossing the pass, made a phone call to secure the boat trip for the next day. Stayed at Gásakláhko.

That night wasn't as cold as I feared. Hardly any wind and mostly sunshine on this day. First it went over open mountainous landscapes and later through light birch forest.
