A perfect summer Sunday: We drove through the pedestrian zone of Wesel with very good "friend relatives" from P-Auesee before we crossed the Rhine and headed west on the dike. The many storks and their nests are a real highlight of the Bislicher Insel nature reserve!

This is only available in the beautiful Lower Rhine: First you take the A57 exit "Alpen" and then in one day you have the South Sea and the North Sea at Xanten. - You won't find that anywhere else in the world! :)

This round tour starts in Kalkar, which already has a beautiful old town (see photos). Green and quiet paths lead to Xanten, including old railway lines. Whether archaeological park, old town or cathedral: Xanten alone is worth a day's visit. From there it went on over old railroad sections with a little… voir plus

Start in Kalkar with a first surprise. Very nice town hall square. Via the old railway line to Xanten. Enjoyed a delicious iced coffee there and then visited the imposing cathedral. Back on the old railway line to Uedem and then back in Kalkar to the central parking lot.

Actually, this was the planned route, but the bridge over the old Rhine near the passenger ferry Xanten is being renovated, so that no round trip has become, but the same (very beautiful) route between Xanten and Wesel:
