Von Köln nach Aachen 2021

The die is cast. My new hiking project is: "From Cologne to Aachen". The route goes along the Rhenish Jakobweg. However, I think it is similar to Mark Twain, who said: "There is nothing wrong with setting goals as long as you don't allow yourself to be deterred by interesting detours." Today's stage went from Kerpen Sindorf along the Rhenish Jakobweg across the fields and through small villages to Merzenich. It's good that it wasn't so hot on this stage ... ☁️..because trees and forests were seldom to be found .. I thought it was nice that the Gölzheimer and Merzenich people warmly welcome their hikers 🧡.

Merzenich. From this point on I left the Rhenish Way of St. James. The tour continued via Morschenich, an abandoned place just before the Hamberger Forest. Today my stage went from Elsdorf to Jülich. ... further around the Hambach opencast mine. The Sophienhöhe, which lies on the northern edge, is a recultivated dump with very interesting sites. In retrospect, my hiking route amused me as I hiked a dog ...;)

The tour starts in Jülich with a little sightseeing of the citadel, the swan pond and the witch's tower, among other things, we continue down the Rur towards Düren. The stage went from Huchem - Stammeln along the Inden opencast mine, along the fields to the Großer Indemann (including a view of the Indeland). The hike continued along the Inde to the pottery town of Langerwehe.

I could have called the tour a "hike in the Indeland". Very versatile and interesting impressions… voir plus

The tour continued from Langerwehe through the Meroder forest, along the Laufenburg (old knight's castle with restaurant), further along the Orchelsweiher, an idyllic place. ... further through the forest to the Wehebachtalsperre.
