Altmühltal-Radweg und nähere Umgebung

A nice section, almost only close to the river. The path is made of solid gravel. Often you can also cycle on the opposite side of the Atmühltal cycle path, so discover wonderful views on the way back.

There and back on the same tour. No evasion possible. A section with lots of green areas, fewer towns and a nice destination: Eichstätt.

The thick cloud behind the monastery bread was serious. So this time only a route through the green valley. Then we went back with the Regio from Solnhofen to Eichstätt.

Always nice the wind from the front, but that's apparently the case when you drive up the river. This route is again characterized by many trips across the wide field. You can walk around the Altmühlsee on the best asphalt and you should do that too - from the bathing area to Vogelinsel - everything included.

Short detour away from the Altmühl on the bike and hiking trail Schambachtal. A comfortable path with a view of three castles. Altmannstein is now no show place, the bike path continues, but then with gradients of up to 15 percent. From there the cosiness ceases.

One steep climb to have a wonderful view of the Altmühl from the castle. Here you can see the Tatzlwurm bridge in its entirety, whereby the large arches only appear flat. After closing time, we visited the Liberation Hall - the memorial for the battles against Napoleon commissioned by King Ludwig I. But as with “Walhalla”, standing here at the foot of the building is impressive.



You can stop off in Kehlheim very well in the beer garden of Bavaria's oldest wheat beer brewery - Weißes Brauhaus.

Although the bike path goes right past, today we went with the Danube ship to the Weltenburg Monastery. 45 minutes on deck - lazy looking at the area from the water.



We could have saved ourselves the way to Weltenburg - there's nothing there. We only wanted to briefly escape the ship's monastery rush… voir plus

Gigantic describes this place best. Also worth seeing after the closing time - great views and a minimum of visitors.
