2020 GR5 CH - NL

I have been waiting for this for a long time, I have done a lot of training tours ... Today was the time, I could finally start.

Was nice again. The route is well signposted, you don't need a map, the Komoot navigation barely ...

Most of the route was the same as the Jakobsweg (one of the several ...) It went for kilometers through lush green forests (not cultivated), the bird concert was a feast for the ears ...

Today I passed the Grand Ballon, I saved myself the trouble of climbing up and down ..., the summit was hidden in the fog ...

After yesterday's busy day and today's rainy weather, I decided to take half a day off ...

Nice and "photogenic" weather in the morning, later overcast, but at least it stayed dry ...

I chose the variant (as there are many on the GR5) Because most of the accommodations are (still) closed, I turned off the main route and headed east, where I landed in the beautiful village of Mittlach ...

Today there was an "alternative" GR5. Away from the "mountains" to the "vineyards". A rapidly changing landscape, wonderfully flat. It felt like a vacation day ... 😀

Now I feel I have really arrived in Alsace.

No, no more rain, today I was sweating ... But of course I don't complain ... 😀

The whole tour led through the 🍷 vineyards, sparsely alternated with villages. The villages in this area are very touristy, despite Corona there were many people in Ribeauvillé. Niks like away ...

Today's hike led through an almost empty country. There were some farms a sleepy village and sometimes forest, for hikers, infrastructure-like, almost nothing ... No loading, no pickling, no cultural or natural highlights ... One should be prepared for self-sufficiency ...
