Today it was wild birds. All kinds of (bike) paths from well developed to a beaten track (sic!) Across the thicket (marked as "high" -light; but at least today it stayed dry). Today we went to the Massif Central. The weather stayed dry and overcast. The Via Podiensis (Voie du Puy) begins in Le Puy en Velay. A Camino de Santiago that the French follow intensively. However, some international guests are also there. Here I got my first stamp for the pilgrim passport.

The Massif Central is NOT a low mountain range like the Alb, Rhön, Black Forest or similar in Germany. Today we went up to over 1,300 m. Creeping plants began here, plants from the high mountains. No wonder if the legs are no longer oomph ...

Today was day 1 of the heat battle. While the temperatures in the Massif Central were still bearable, it got really hot after the sensational descent from the Massif. Today we continued the cycle route along the Lot in summery temperatures. Again and again I passed pilgrims with scallops on their rucksacks.

This morning I left Cahors via the world heritage site Pont Valentré. In cloudy weather we went through the Vignoble de Cahors. At noon the sun has prevailed and burned from a cloudless sky. Thanks to a do-it-your-yourself breakfast, like some pilgrims on foot, I left Lectoure at the first light of day to avoid the announced heat of up to 36 degrees. When the sun rose, ground fog formed, which only dissolved shortly before arriving in Aire. That's why there aren't many pictures for today.

The summer heat is over and has given way to pleasantly warm weather and skies adorned with cumulus clouds. Perfect cycling in a wonderful landscape! The pleasantly warm weather continues. A cooling breeze from the side makes climbing over the last hill more pleasant and almost lets you forget the increasing traffic.
