Niederrhein, Wesel, Xanten und Umgebung 2021

A little discovery tour on the Rhine dike and through the Rhine floodplains. Worth seeing is the cathedral and the historic town hall in Wesel. A special highlight for nature lovers is the Bislicher Insel with many information boards and observation points and a rich animal world, even free-range cattle cross the path 🦬😮

Today hiked from Bislich to Xanten. The huge archaeological park, the imposing cathedral and the beautiful old town around the market square are worthwhile.

A beautiful nature tour with many lakes, forests, small farming villages and along the Issel with many nice resting places. The Waldcafé near Wertherbruch is very rustic - unfortunately 😭 it was Monday again today ... closed ☹

We often write nice tours, but this one really deserves 5 stars. The lovely Lippeauen, home to many birds and amphibians. Unfortunately, the impressions are again difficult to reproduce in pictures. Tour with a very diverse landscape. The Kamp monastery with its terrace garden and the monastery garden café are well worth a visit. Great idea, here you can get coffee and cake for a voluntary donation. Wonderful forest paths in the state forest "Die Leucht". As a reward in the evening, a nice BBQ buffet… voir plus

Today we made our way to the historic Raesfeld moated castle. Absolutely worth seeing. Unfortunately, the castle church and treasury could not be visited. A tour that you love as a cyclist: blazing sun 🙂, heavy headwind 😮, heavy rain showers 😡 but beautiful area. Worth seeing Rees, the oldest town on the Lower Rhine with an old city wall and supposedly the most beautiful Rhine promenade in Germany.
