Vor wenigen Jahren habe ich das Wandern für mich entdeckt und es lieben gelernt. Mit meinen heute 62 Lenzen (gefühlt natürlich wesentlich weniger) wandere ich gerne lange und ausgiebige Strecken und freue mich über Strecken, die ein wenig unterhaltsam- und abwechslungsreicher gestaltet sind.

A nice route. For a long time it runs along the sea. So if you are hoping for a shady spot on hot days, you have to wait until you come near Minsen. A short hike with a lot of variety. The haiku in the different places always gives you a little variety and you learn something more.

Helmstedt and the surrounding area are not exactly blessed with heights. Therefore, the hike through the Elm-Lappwald was quite manageable. If you stay on the designated hiking trails (which are each indicated with numbers) and are not tempted to use the wide forest paths, the hike can certainly be mastered…

A great suspension rope bridge with a fantastic view. In times of Corona, it is essential to plan time, as only an hourly transition is possible. Those who include the Geierlay loop (approx. 6.4 km) in the hike instead of the "normal route" have a nice start before crossing the suspension bridge.

Nice and easy route. Unfortunately, the hunting lodge will not be open for much longer. The Else Kröner-Fresenius-Stiftung (EKFS) plans to tear down the dilapidated hunting lodge of the Fresenius family above Schmitten .....
From there it is only 3.5 km to the horse's head with a wonderful view.
After a steep ascent (if you go up the forest path to the right) you get to the emperor's temple fairly quickly. Then it goes over many small. and narrow forest paths through the individual forest sections. Sturdy shoes are essential.
