À propos de Chase The Sun

Join us and ride to 'Chase the Sun' across the UK North, South or Italy. Register for details here: chasethesun.orgChase The Sun is a simple idea, with a unique philosophy. The challenge: ride across the country in one day, on the Saturday closest to the longest day of the year. Coast to coast, east to west, sunrise to sunset, this challenge now takes place simultaneously on three different routes. It is an annual happening, originally conceived by founder Olly in 2008, the concept is important: this is a ride, not a race, it is a collective endeavour shared by a community of cyclists inspired in pursuit of a common goal.Chase the Sun attracts cyclists of many abilities, from trained athletes to determined novices, experienced long-distance adventure riders to urban cycle couriers on fixie's and even tandem teams! In contrast with typical 'sportives' there is no timing or ranking, no medals, only the camaraderie of fellow riders, and the ultimate success of chasing the sun to view the sunset on the coastline.Chase The Sun UK South starts at sunrise on the Isle of Sheppey in Kent, crossing a diverse section of the country, encompassing the urban streets of London, country lanes, green vales and the mighty Cheddar Gorge, ending at sunset in Burnham On Sea on the Somerset coast some 205 miles later.Chase The Sun Italy is a spectacular 270 kilometre route full of scenic climbing and thrilling descents, it traverses the country from Cesenatico, birthplace of Marco Pantani, over the Appenine mountains, scenic Tuscan hills and vineyards, and passing historic cultural landmarks in Florence and Pisa, to arrive at the Tirrenian sea, on the coast west of Pisa.Chase The Sun UK North starts on the beachfront in Tynemouth near Newcastle and takes in the wild hills, forests and rivers of Northumberland and the dramatic southern uplands of Scotland, crossing historic bridges and epic wilderness and covering over 200 miles to reach a view of mid-summer sunset over the Firth of Clyde from Prestwick seafront.
