Eifelsteig 06/2021

Under the motto "Where rock and water accompany you" we set out on the 312 km long Eifelsteig today. The long-distance hiking trail leads from Kornelimünster, a suburb of Aachen to Trier.



Until a few weeks ago, we had already written off our vacation, the greater the joy now 😊.



Today there were two stages… voir plus

After we had left the beautiful town of Monschau, with its many half-timbered houses, there were, in contrast to the first two stages, significantly more climbs and vertical meters to cope with today. We liked the stage very much. There was a lot going through mixed forest, partly on beautiful paths… voir plus

Le paysage était un mélange varié de forêts et de prairies, plus beaucoup d'histoire et de belles vues encore et encore.

Today's stage was one of the easiest so far that we have made on the Eifelsteig.



However, many straight and wide economic routes shaped today's course.

We would have liked to have chosen a different route, but it was still an absolutely relaxed, wonderful day of hiking, with beautiful views in between… voir plus

Après un très bon petit-déjeuner, nous avons quitté notre bel hébergement au monastère de Steinfeld et nous nous sommes dirigés vers Blankenheim.



Des vestiges de l'époque romaine, le centre naturel de l'Eifel à Nettersheim et le tunnel du zoo près de Blankenheim ont façonné cette scène facile à parcourir… voir plus

Since we are spending two nights in Blankenheim, we decided on stage 7 to run the other way around.



We took the hiking bus to Mirbach and started from the Erlöserkapelle. It was definitely worth taking a look inside.





First it went on broader paths through the beautiful, idyllic Lampertstal. It is a side… voir plus

This morning we were driven back to Mirbach and started with stage 8.



The first section to the Dreimühlen waterfall went alternately over fields and through the forest, always on wide forest and field paths. It was a relaxed, easy to walk route. The vertical meters were distributed pleasantly up and down… voir plus

We really liked today's stage. After we had looked at the historic city wall in Hillesheim, the Eifelsteig meandered on really beautiful paths from one highlight to the next. There was a lot going through forests, in between great flower meadows and on the way there were wonderful views over the Vulkaneifel… voir plus

Today we still had a remnant part of stage 10 to run. It started with the crisp ascent to the Nerother Kopf (651 m). We were rewarded with the great forest paths, a cave and the remains of a ruin, before we went on varied forest and field paths in the direction of Daun. In Daun there was a diversion… voir plus

What a wonderful tour it was today. We can unreservedly recommend stage 12.



After the shuttle bus took us up to Manderscheid, we went straight on with a last look at the ruins of the Manderscheid castles, with beautiful paths, uphill and downhill, over rocky passages and through rustic forests.

Since we stayed one more night in the Abbey of Himmerod Monastery, we were driven to Bruch after breakfast and were able to walk back to the monastery at our own pace.



The stage cannot be compared with yesterday's. In any case, it is an easy route to walk, with only short ascent and descent, sometimes… voir plus

This morning we were transferred to the village square in Bruch. Here we started the longest of the actually 15 stages of the Eifelsteig. There were some vertical meters to conquer, but they were pleasantly distributed along the route, so that there were only a few short, crisp climbs.

Final spurt! On the last stage of the Eifelsteig there was a lot to see again today. The route had a lot to offer in terms of landscape and culture and was again really fun.
