Dannebrog und Shelter - Auf dem E1 durch Dänemark

After a delay in arrival, we finally started at the border crossing at Kupfermühle at around 1:30 p.m. Initially, the E1 followed the gendarme path. Unfortunately, it wasn't that relaxed today. After a 3.5km wheel break. Somehow the plastic spokes were temporarily pushed together again and then slowly over the Ochsenweg, an 11km long gravel road, almost straight ahead, sometimes more, sometimes less uphill, always worried about the bike. After the long break with an ice cream for refreshment, how could it be otherwise on gravel and asphalt? The gravel was sometimes quite deep, so walking as well as pulling a car was quite strenuous. The sun was kind to us all… voir plus

Day 5 started out pretty relaxed. It went on paths of different widths through fields, small towns and past homesteads. The path through the “Oksenvad Hede” forest was also great and we had lunch on a bench with a wonderful view. We even saw a kingfisher. Not far after that, the exertions began. Just… voir plus

As soon as we were off, it got totally dark and a thunderstorm was approaching. When we were still undecided about what to do, a young woman with two children offered us shelter in her house. It had just been acquired and is now to be restored. The thunderstorm was over very quickly and so we soon set… voir plus

The seventh day on the E1 in Denmark was characterized by downpours, asphalt and my fitness watch that wanted to stop the recording all the time and also has twice because I couldn't take countermeasures in time.

Fortunately, we didn't have to pitch our tent and just plop into a shelter.

It had been pouring down all night and there were only a few short breaks in the rain in the morning, during which we scurried to the toilet and to fill up the water. Since it should get better in the course of the morning, we had breakfast a little longer. Unfortunately nothing changed in the weather… voir plus

The path went slightly up and down through beautiful landscape over gravel and meadow paths. Then there was a path with a few sections of malty sand. Now, of all times, things were going uphill. Not easy with… voir plus

Today only a short stage was planned as we absolutely had to replenish our supplies. We didn't even have anything for breakfast, other than coffee.

Since I wanted to go the full E1, Martina and I broke up at short notice. Martina went directly into town and I went down almost to the lake to take the H… voir plus

Shortly after continuing we came across a car rest area, where there would have been much better rest benches. After crossing a larger road it went uphill again (this time not so steep), past a beautifully situated small lake. We were at our overnight place faster than expected… voir plus

Our sleeping place last night "Knudshøje" can also be reached by vehicle, so it was initially on roads (mostly fine gravel) through sparsely populated areas. Partly the road ended at a farm and the way led over dirt roads or only paths to another farm from which the road was used again as a further route… voir plus
