After Doris said that it looks different on the Gulp than on the Göhl (both rivers in the Dutch Heuvelland), I was curious. In fact, it's kind of green, shadier, and "wilder". Spontaneously, Doris and I decided to go on this tour we took over from Lee today. The starting point was in Heijenrath in NL. From the place it went on a really very narrow path into the forest. Narrow paths and jungle mood there too, beautiful. The right thing if it is warm or, like today, very windy… voir plus

DIFFERENT THAN PLANNED -

We were already 10 km in the direction of the Eifel when we got into the first traffic jam. So I thought, well then you can probably forget the Rursee! So we turned back and ... went to Belgium.

It was all there, sun, wide meadows for dog play, an exciting quarry, beautiful, mud-free paths (including green tunnel), autumn forest, in which I then got tangled, because I wanted to abbreviate the end of the tour ...

Am then the last piece the same way as gone. That saved me the road at the end.

The best time for the heather is August. So Doris and I went there today.

The weather and the temperatures were good for us and we had a really nice tour, the dogs had fun on the water and halfway through the tour there was pannekoeken in the Schrieversheide restaurant, once sweet, once savory, very tasty… voir plus

Believe it or not, it was 3 degrees cooler there than at 30 degrees - and nice and shady. However, about half of the Belgians and Dutch also thought so, so there was lively hustle and bustle on the otherwise beautiful trail along the river 🤪. Sun, lots of warmth and blazing light accompanied us yesterday.

The Heuvelland, finally open again, is wonderful; on this round there was only a little lack of shade, but you have wonderful views.

It took a while until I decided where I would hike today. It was a good idea that the choice fell on Gulpen, so we had pure sunshine and finally the sunset on the Gulperberg. If you haven't been there before, you should definitely do it (you can even go up by car), because the view in all directions… voir plus

The Belgian border is not yet closed. Therefore, the tour went today to the daffodil blossom in the Hohnbach valley. A pleasure in this weather! The start was in Astenet, the path went across wide sunny meadows and through a charming landscape.

The fact that today is Belgian national holiday ... had escaped me, I was only surprised that the parking lot at Haus Ternell was overcrowded and that nothing was going on on the other streets. Well so what! 😁



The tour was exciting, the predominant paths were very rocky and rooty, easy hiking is different… voir plus

Did it like Tanja today; I'm where the sun should shine And where I expected fewer people. And where I've never been.



The tour also leads through the Geul meadows (note: with livestock!), Further through the landscape of the NSG Gerendal and up to the height of the Berghof with an unbelievably wide view… voir plus

Rimo has put together a nice tour of Dutch Switzerland for us. It was cloudy but dry and everyone had fun together! Gladly again, dear Rimo!

It was an icy cold but sunny tour. It's good that all the paths were frozen ... not easy to walk over all the bumps and roots, over icy areas and brooks that have opened up. Partly tricky, because it looked frozen, but then I hung up… voir plus

In the "real" Venn we can not, so Ronnie, so we tried it in the Venn forest ... but bad surprise, the Belgians have paved everything. It was also damp, cool and shady. Would like to recommend this corner to cyclists ... 😉
